Goal

To implement Aboriginal community development processes in order to improve the health of Aboriginal people.

Strategies

1. Respect and strengthen Aboriginal knowledge on health and well-being by:

•  Sharing knowledge and learning with Aboriginal communities and stakeholders.

•  Affirming and enhancing the role of Aboriginal community organisations in health research and evaluation.

•  Promoting Aboriginal methodologies in health research and evaluation.

2. Define, strengthen and promote Aboriginal community development principles and processes within Onemda by:

•  Evaluating Aboriginal community development using Aboriginal terms of reference.

•  Developing appropriate and valid measures.

3. Ensure that Aboriginal community values, knowledge and priorities shape Onemda 's teaching, research and community development activities by:

•  Integrating Aboriginal community development principles into teaching and research.

•  Holding annual Talkin' Strong days, community development workshops and Community visits.
